Glacier Peak, 2000.
Glacier Peak is barely visible on the Cascade Mountain skyline from Puget Sound, but from anywhere in the North Cascades it is a veritable beacon, clearly visible from every summit between Snoqualmie Pass and the U.S.-Canadian border.
This view is from the northwest flank of Big Chiwaukum in July, at the peak of flower season. Wading through wildflowers is delicate work, taking care not only to avoid trampling the flowers, but also to not upset the thousands of bees at work in the meadow.
